A little no-so-secret fact about me is that I have quite a sweet tooth. I’m sure you all can relate. Mine mainly centered around ice cream and usually into the late hours. Thankfully, places like Sweetpops exist so that even when the sun is going down, I can get my fix! They specialize in shaved ice, milk tea, and coffee. So heads up boba fans, this could be your new spot!

Walking in, I had no expectations or knowledge of this place. I simply googled ice cream and they popped up on the map, so my first reaction was blown away by the beautiful artwork and attention to detail on all the decor. It was that feeling like you’ve been transported somewhere else. The music in the background was soft and calming. I could easily see this place being perfect for remote work or a group meeting.

One thing I really enjoyed was the time the owner spends with the guest. He was engaged in conversation when I arrived and eventually made his way over to me. I was taking some photos and videos and he introduced himself and explained his inspiration behind all of the murals he painted. A touch of Wichita pride with the flag and an image of home with an iconic church in Vietnam. I really enjoyed our conversation. It’s places like this that make Wichita special.

Now for the moment, you've all been waiting for (drum roll please), the new menu item, the Black Sugar Shaved Ice. Let me start by just saying this ice cream is AMAZING. Unfortunately I had to rush mine home so it melted a bit, so apologies for not picturing it in its peak form. It was light and fluffy with a creamy sugar milk flavor and the boba in the ice cream, was next level. Initially, I thought, eh not for me, but it added an intriguing texture with great flavor paired to the Ice cream. If there's one thing this dessert has done, it's create a desire to revisit for the boba alone!

The beautiful thing about Sweetpops is that they have a location out East as well so no matter what side of town you’re on, go check them out and try their shaved ice!
Enjoy,
