P & M Pumpkin Ranch
Pumpkin patch, pig races, and endless activities. A must visit fall destination.
It was a weekend full of adventure for my family this past weekend and by far the most memorable was a trip to the P & M Pumpkin Ranch.
This pumpkin ranch had it all. Just about an hour north of Wichita in Moundridge, Kansas, it was truly worth every penny. We spent almost 3 hours enjoying all of the activities provided with our entry fee.
Starting things off, we took advantage of the colorful flowers as soon as we walked in. They were lined all along the initial walking path and were perfect for pictures of the little one. My daughter especially enjoyed chasing after the butterflies.
Jump Around! Jump! Jump! Jump!
Walking in further, it’s hard to ignore the three giant bounce pads that were full of kids. A fun opportunity to jump around, have a good time and realize your body isn’t quite as young as you once thought. But no worries, that comes pain comes the next day.
Homeruns, Touchdowns, and Goals
Continuing down the left side of the farm you’ll find a continuation of fun activities for kids. It’s quite remarkable the endless amount of ideas they’ve come up with to keep them entertained. Cookies Corn Crib, is a huge sandbox but filled with corn instead! It happened to be packed as we walked by so we set our sites on the Sports Barn. They had football, baseball, basketball, and soccer all in one barn! Here’s a picture of my daughter with an absolute cannon throwing right into the home run hole! If you’re a pro or college scout, feel free to email me.
Sooooeeeeeyyyy!
Now believe me when I say, these are just a few of the many activities they have in the area. They had Connect4Golf, Roller Bowler, hover ball, obstacle courses, zip lines, Colossal Checkers & Tic-Tac-Toe, playgrounds, Corn Hole and much more. But before we could enjoy anything else, the 5:30pm alarm hit and it was time to head to the other side of the farm to catch the pig races!
Can you say sooooeeeeyyy? Good. because as soon as you do, you’ll see the cutest four pigs come running out of the gate racing to the other side of the track. Truly my favorite part of the whole visit. Being included with admission is just another reason why this pumpkin ranch is one of the best around.
Just look at those little pigs go. You’ll find they aren’t the only animals racing. This track is accompanied by bilingual ducks we learned that come storming out the gate with a sooey call as well. The perfect fun family show full of laughs and cheering, followed by a candy cannon to top it all off.
Dessert Before Dinner
We took some time after the show to stop by the concessions where they had a variety of different options. Each with their own menu.
I stopped by the P & M Mining Co. concession and immediately noticed they had a new item on their menu. Funnel Fry Sundae it is! Funnel fries topped with P&M caramel vanilla bean ice cream and dusted with cinnamon and sugar. A nice midday dessert to help fuel the rest of the afternoon for just $5.
We checked out another concession stand enjoying a hotdog and a pickle. The family was satisfied and ready to embark on the activities that were ahead of us. Don’t forget to snag some of their famous kettle corn too!
Say Cheeeese!
While walking around the ranch you’ll notice an endless amount of photo opportunities. Whether it be cutouts, decorated backdrops, or props like a big wooden chair. The family will certainly be able to capture every moment.
A Hole in One!
After snapping a few photos ourselves, we made our way to the mini golf course. Again, included with admission. Everyone grabbed a putter and a ball and got right to it. We tried to be competitive but quickly learned that if you missed the hole in one, no worries, my daughter would pick your ball up and throw it either out of the course or right into the hole. A fun gamble to quickly wager whose ball would perish next.
I loved the simple yet challenging course they created to provide yet another great activity for family and friends to enjoy.
Ready, Aim, Fire!
We had a few extra dollars on us and took advantage of some of the activities you have to pay for. One of which being the almighty pumpkin cannon. For just $1 per shot, you can blast the targets while hearing the loud thud and seeing your pumpkin explode!
Other paid activities include mini diggers for a $1, the Buckaroo Family Train for just $1/person and gem stone mining ranging from $7-$46.
Sliding Into Fall
Throughout the course of our day we made several stops to the slides that are all around the ranch. The two most popular being Outlaw Chutes and the Double Barrel Chutes. I can’t count how many times we climbed up the hill and stairs but it was worth the sore legs the next day.
Bubble Station
One take away from this visit was unlocking the inner child in myself and all my family as we engaged in each activity. The one that probably was least expected but did that the most was the bubble station. The excitement on my face says it all. We ran around laughing seeing who could make the biggest bubble or simply who could get their bubble to float over and pop on the one another. It was a blast.
Pedal Through The Pain
Finishing out our evening at the P & M Pumpkin Ranch, we walked around making sure we didn’t miss anything. Like visiting grandpas town where kids can run around a western-themed playground surrounded by the Outlaw Posse Run a track with four-seater pedal karts, perfect for strapping the little one up front as you pedal around the track. My legs survived two laps before burning out. The things we do for our children though.
On the other side of the ranch is a kart track, the Pedal Corral for the little riders and the Pedal Stampede, a kart track for all ages.
Wait, Are We Lost?
Now I've mentioned some of the endless activities that make this place unique but don't forget to enjoy the pumpkin patch, the Wagon Rides to the second pumpkin patch, and the Corn Maize!
In closing, I just have to say thank you to the people out at P & M Pumpkin Ranch for providing one of the best experiences for family friendly fun in the fall. I had an amazing time and shared endless laughs while creating memories for a lifetime. I can’t recommend this place enough.
Enjoy,
Trent.
