Maple Street Pizza Company opened its doors this week located at 12111 W Maple St Suite 131, Wichita, KS 67235. Opened by familiar owners Bryce and Toi Kuhn who own, Twelve Restaurant and Bar located on the same strip at 119th and Maple. As a pizza lover, I was excited to hear of another spot on the west side, and wood-fired makes it that much better!
The restaurant had a friendly inviting atmosphere with a row of tables on one side and a bar on the other where you can see the magic happen. Outdoor seating is available as well. The place was packed, which is to be expected on opening day, nonetheless, the staff was very attentive and helpful with great attitudes.
I immediately noticed the menu had a wide range of ingredients and combinations. You can stick with the basic pizzas but if your tastebuds are feeling adventurous there are plenty of options.
For starters, I ordered the garlic knots. They were airy and had that homemade taste. The knots were a good size perfect for a family appetizer and come with marinara.
I decided to order an Italian salad as well. Suggested by the waiter, I was pleased to see the time put into the presentation for something as simple as a salad. The salad comes with homemade croutons that have a texture of more soft and chewy bread rather than crunchy.
I ordered, “How I Met Your Mother”. The pizza has a beautifully constructed crust with the perfect crunch and airy center. They have a homemade red sauce to complement their homemade crust and it delivers. In terms of sauce-to-cheese ratio, my pizza was more cheese. Not to say it took away from the flavor profile by any means. The Italian sausage and pepperoni had delicious seasonings. If you’re a mushroom fan, as you can tell from the picture below, these thick roasted suckers are flavorful and add great texture to every bite.
Don’t let me stop you at just the pizza either. Visit their bar and check out their drink menu that’ll provide crafted beverages perfect to quench your thirst. Do yourself a favor and make that trip out west and visit Maple Street Pizza Co.
Happy grubbin’,
