Today for lunch I set out to try something new for Taco Tuesday! Working out in Newton, Ks I passed by a taco trailer right off the main road that had a number of people sitting around eating and waiting on food. That place was Tacos Ana’s.
Today's taco special included 3 tacos of one choice of meat (asada, pastor, chicken, or barbacoa) and a side of beans and rice for $10. I went with asada for the meat but as your dedicated food blogger got an additional taco of pastor for $3.
Opening my containers I thought it was pretty cool that everything came with a foil over it to keep warm on the drive back to work. It also made opening it up to reveal my food more like opening a present.
Opening them up reinforced that feeling even more! The asada tacos had a mix of raw and grilled onions, cilantro, lime, and the meat was well seasoned and cooked a little longer giving it that grilled char I love. Truly remarkable flavor. I ate every piece that fell out of my taco!
The pastor taco had the same fillings and the meat was cooked similarly as well. True marinated flavor that you can taste. Another great option to go with.
The tacos also came with red and green salsa. The red was really spicy. That kind of spice that makes you clear your throat and say, yep that’s the hot one. It went great on the tacos for that spicy chili flair. The green was milder and carried a sweeter peppery taste. Also a delicious option. Hell, Feel free to go crazy and mix the two as I did.
Lastly, the beans and rice sides were just what you’d expect. Simple yet satisfying. perfect pairing for this special and a good amount of it.
Here’s the menu.
This special was worth every cent and as a frequent visitor of Newton on Tuesdays, I’ll be revisiting a lot more often! If you’re in the area and haven’t tried Tacos Ana’s yet, what’re you waiting for? Go check them out!
