Today I had a craving for some pasta but unlike a burger or a taco, there isn't a spot to go at seemingly every corner. Especially when you want something you can grab and go quickly if need be. Well, thankfully a little place known as Pasta Express exists off of Harry just east of the St. Joe Hospital. Just look out for the big sign with a bowl of pasta on the North side of the road.
Dine-In, carry-out, delivery, catering you name it. They do it all. For todays visit I popped in for a quick carry out order that I placed just before my 10min drive and was ready and waiting for me as I walked in. Service was great ensuring I had everything I needed and provided a welcoming attitude.
I ordered the wings as an appetizer and the meat manicotti with marinara sauce and a fettuccine Alfredo with crispy chicken for my entrees which came with complementary bread sticks.
The drive home was torture as the aroma of everything filled my car but as soon as I walked in the door I tore the bag open and peeled back the containers to reveal my food.
The wings were by far some of the best I’ve had. They were cooked to perfection with a crispy and crunchy exterior. The hot sauce for them comes on the side and I’m not exaggerating when I say I could've drank it. My wife gave me plenty of side eye glances as I bathed my wings in it. It had a Buffalo Hot/Tangy-like flavor that made my tastebuds erupt! Highly recommend trying them.
The bread was nothing crazy. Just a solid pairing to go with any pasta. Buttery to the taste and I loved that they weren’t soggy even after the journey home. They also make a great tool for scraping every corner of your container for the remaining sauce.
Now for the main event.
The fettuccini Alfredo with crispy chicken didn’t blow me away like I had hoped for. The Alfredo sauce was good carrying that creamy consistency with a cheesy buttery taste but as for the chicken I wished it would have been more crispy instead it was more breaded. However there was no skimping going on, plenty of chicken to go around which was nice to see. Still a good option just not my favorite.
That of course had to go to the Meat Manicotti with marinara sauce. If you’re unaware of what manicotti is, it’s essentially a big pasta noodle stuffed with whatever you’d like. Mine of course being a delicious meat a cheese combo that every bite I shoveled on with marinara sauce. I quickly ate half of it before my wife’s fork found its way on to my plate. Luckily the portions were enough that I was okay with parting ways with a couple of bites.
If you’re ever in the mood for pasta stop by Pasta Express, whether it’s dine in or carry-out it’s Quick fast and friendly service that’ll leave you satisfied!
